Grace works as a maid at the Pérola Motel. When the owner dies, the motel shuts down; she has no money and nowhere to go, so she secretly lives in one of the rooms. Rubem, the owner’s nephew, inherits the motel and meets Grace. Unemployed and unable to pay her back wages or the outstanding labor debts, he suggests she stay there until he manages to sell the property. Rubem can’t sell the motel—the few offers don’t even cover the debts. He decides to sell his car and reopen it, proposing a partnership with Grace. She agrees. Grace and Rubem move into the motel. They run promotions and offer discounts, but nothing works. They’re even robbed, yet they refuse to give up. They install security cameras throughout the motel and, just to pass the time, also put cameras in the rooms to spy on their few guests—so few that they still can’t make ends meet. To pay the bills, they come up with the idea of selling the footage to porn websites, hiding the couples’ faces in the edit. The plan works very well, and they start making money—until they’re discovered. Now, to avoid prison, they’ll have to prove that the real videos are fake by forging videos that look real.
